All drivers (interstate or intrastate) are required by the federal government to pass a medical examination conducted by a licensed healthcare professional prior to operating a commercial vehicle.
Standard components include:
• Medical history
• Physical exam
• Vision test
• Hearing test
• Urinalysis
• Physical exam interpretation
• Renewed every 2 years or more frequently depending on existing medical conditions
Additionally, we want to assure you that we are aware of the NEW Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) requirements. Effective May 2014, all medical examiners performing commercial driver exams will require certification and registration in the NRCME. Dr. Saugen is certified and registered by the USDOT to perform the required truck and bus driver physical examinations. We are presently the designated medical examiners for several large companies in the Le Sueur area.
